Painting by Jim Mc Dermott
As if from nowhere - silently
you came - and you stood by me
a cripple fantasy

This is conceptually fascinating. Thanks.
All the best, Boonie
Such a unique image and haiku. Great contribution!
This is deeply moving Riette. It reminds me of Victor Hugo's the Hunchback of Notre Dame, that profound story of a holy and unique soul who experienced such abuse and marginalization at the hands of his fellow man and yet was able to love so full-heartedly and so compassionately his Esmerelda. His words, "She gave me water" still echo in my ears. I am wondering if this is a shadow or archetypal figure for you. It is a beautiful haiku and a great contribution. Thank you.
Noelle
I couldn't say what Noelle said as gracefully, but that is what I thought too, it is the hunchback, and he did love so unconditionally in spite of his fate.
Wonderful stuff!
Peace.
Thought provoking, how many of us have one of these.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
There is such beauty and poignancy in this image and verse. Thank you for posting.

yes...this took me immediately back to a childhood memory of the original black and white version of the hunchback of notre dame. i was young and completely swept away. such a testimony of compassion and non judgement.
thank you for this.
a cripple's love is often hard to come by... we look and b/c of the imperfection we pass by... one has to have a tender heart beyond the facade of our eyes to possess a love such as you speak... beautiful beautiful beautiful.... i can only think of elephant man... imagine he wore a cloth over his head to walk outside... ouch! haiku my heart
a thought provoking and different take :)
Haiku My Heart
